Xandros Linux is a distribution based on Corel Linux released by Xandros Corporation. The name comes from both the X Window System and the Greek island Andros. As of October 2013, the company appears to have folded and everything having to do with the distribution (with the exception of some active mirrors) has completely vanished.

Setting up Xandros 3.

The Xandros boot "splash".

The login screen looks a lot like a text-mode graphical interface. Unlike a lot of Linux distros, at least it provides you with a list of users on the system.

Upon first boot, this wizard pops up. I didn't go through it, but presumably it asks you to fill out things like your time zone, registration information (which, thankfully, is not at all required), and stuff like that. Obviously mouse set-up is the first thing it asks.

The Xandros desktop. Xandros uses KDE 3 as its desktop environment, and thus looks similar to Freespire, NimbleX, and SUSE 9. One difference here appears to be the default height of the task bar. |
