Haiku Beta 5 Mounting
Haiku also now includes a few additional preferences for disk mounting, which should make a lot of this stuff easier. I did not thoroughly test it with things like floppy disks though, which are well known to be problematic in other operating systems.

Haiku Beta 5 HaikuDepot
Here is the HaikuDepot, the package manager for Haiku, which has remained unchanged from past versions other than the fact that it works now that the repositories are not locked.

Haiku Beta 5 Flat theme
One of the items in the Haiku Extras package is this flat theme, which I suppose is intended to put Haiku in line with more recent operating systems in terms of control appearance. I've never really cared for a lot of the glass-like UIs, but the flat look is out of place I think.

Haiku Beta 5 Dark theme
Haiku also now includes a dark theme, and there's been efforts at standardizing the controls in the OS to match the dark theme.
Previously the appearance control required you to set all the different colours manually. Now it will automatically choose colours based on the three primary selections as shown here. You can of course continue to customize everything manually if you choose, unlike certain other operating systems.

Haiku Beta 5 Battery info
I am not really sure why a battery shows up on this virtual machine, but Haiku picked up on one and installed this new PowerStatus applet, which has been enhanced with battery capacity warning messages and other quality-of-life fixes.
