Xubuntu bundles GIMP 2.6 as the image editor. GIMP is a GNU image editor that is available for Windows and MacOS as well as Linux, and most versions of Ubuntu bundle it by default.

Instead of bundling resource-heavy OpenOffice, like Ubuntu does, Xubuntu uses the Abiword/Gnumetric combination.
It's no secret these are not my favorite programs, mostly because of the requirement to customize if you want easy access to text formatting, but at least they get the job done.

Xubuntu includes the Orage calendar. Random fact, but "orage" is French for "thunder". Seems fitting with the file manager being "Thunar", which sounds like thunder.

Xubuntu can allow quite the customization regarding CDs and other removable devices.
