Conclusion:
The user interface, although a revelation at the time for what the 701 model was intended to accomplish, feels extremely limiting and isn't terrifically useful all these years later. It's also interesting how short-lived the netbook concept really was, although with the tiny keyboards that weren't nice to type on and the low display resolution maybe it shouldn't be surprising they didn't catch on.
