Apparently El Capitan reintroduces the dashboard feature from Tiger, with the same default "widgets" too. Again I am not sure what the point is.

This is what the App Store looks like. Really, no different than past releases, and it looks like they hawk their latest OS releases more prominently now too.

The intuitive and easy to use software updater was replaced with a tab in the App Store, which is more than a bit of a pain but at least the old way of accessing it is still there.

Finally, it is still possible to customize the Finder and have your disk drive icon on the desktop where it belongs.

Conclusion:
I am not really sure if it deserves the "El Crapitan" name as I didn't find it to be buggy or unstable (although keep in mind that this is the latest point release), but it really feels like Mac OS X is becoming nothing more than an iPhone OS for a large display. It's lost a lot of the shine in my opinion. Too bad basically everyone has brutalized their desktop into a mobile phone like experience now.
